Riverbugs are ideally suited for games in swimming pools.

Though the American games of Inner Tube Water Polo or Tube Basketball are not played in New Zealand, we have created a dynamic, fast-paced pool game using Riverbugs called Bugpolo.

We believe the Riverbug offers a number of advantages over the inner tube in games like these. Here are some of the reasons:

• When sitting in a Riverbug the body position is more upright, making it easier to catch and pass the ball.  The body can also rotate to face the play.
  
  
• A Riverbug is much easier to get into from the water when a player tips out.
  
  
• Players can kick much more efficiently with their feet (normally players wear small surf fins) as well as paddle with the hands for propulsion. This means Riverbugs give your whole body a workout.
  
  
• The speed and manoeuvrability of Riverbugs creates a faster, more exciting game.
  
  
• Riverbugs are much more comfortable than inner tubes.

The rules of Inner Tube Water Polo and Bugpolo are very similar, in fact, they both use water polo balls and goals.
